Our community focused Children’s Ballet Classes offer a joyful introduction to classical dance while supporting ongoing development and progression for all children. Designed to spark creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of movement as children grow, these school term-based classes blend fun and learning through music and dance.
Led by West Australian Ballet Current and Former Professional Dancers and Teaching Artists, classes take place in the beautiful studios of the West Australian Ballet Centre. The program emphasises the enjoyment and artistry of dance rather than formal exams, grades, assessments or performances — no audition is required.
The program will run during the school term with enrolments determined by your child’s current primary school year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Regular dance wear can consist of leotards, unitards, tights and ballet skirts. If you don’t have dance wear, we advise your child wears fitted yet comfortable gym or yoga clothes, with long hair tied back.
For footwear, we ask students to purchase ballet shoes (either canvas or leather), but bare feet are fine for the first class only.
Unfortunately, we don’t sell shoes or dance wear at West Australian Ballet, we recommend Costume & Ballet Centre in Mount Hawthorn or Ballet Boutique in Dianella. There are several other dance wear retail stores throughout the Perth metropolitan area, or online.
Socks are not permitted in classes please ensure you remove any street shoes before entering our dance studios.
It is very important that you don’t wear any body lotions, sunscreen or hair products to classes at West Australian Ballet, as this can rub off onto the floor during stretches or floor work and over time make the floor slippery and dangerous.
