NEW IN 2026

Led by West Australian Ballet Current and Former Professional Dancers and Teaching Artists, these classes offer a joyful introduction to classical dance for children Kindy - Year 7. Classes are designed to build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of ballet. Enrolments are based on your child’s current school year.

Meet your teachers

Teaching Artist

Victoria Maughan

Born in the United Kingdom, Victoria graduated from Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She joined West Australian Ballet in 2008 as a Young Artist and was promoted to a full artist in September 2008. In 2013 she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts.

Sophie McDonald

Sophie started dancing at the age of three at the Bacchus Marsh Dance Studio. From Year 7 to Year 10 she attended The Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. Then, in 2017 she commenced training at The Australian Ballet School before joining West Australian Ballet as a Young Artist in 2022 and was promoted to Artist in 2023.

Meg Parry

Meg Parry is a graduate of the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts and is a former professional ballet dancer, working as a demi soloist with West Australian Ballet Company and Les Grands Ballets in Montreal, Canada.

May Yen Cheah

May Yen received her dance education at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She began her career gracing stages all over the UK and Australia with West Side Story before joining Singapore Ballet in 2011 and was promoted to Soloist in 2015.

Candice Adea

Candice was the first Filipina to win at the Helsinki International Ballet Competition, taking first Place, Senior Women’s Division in 2012. After training in the Philippines at the CCP Dance School, the Philippine High School for the Arts, Candice earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree Major in Dance, from De La Salle—College of Saint Benilde. Candice has previously been Principal Dancer and Resident Guest Artist for Ballet Philippines, Soloist for Hong Kong Ballet and joined West Australian Ballet as a Soloist in July 2018. She retired at the end of 2024.

Dancer Development Manager

Brooke Jacobs

Born in Narrogin WA, Brooke began her training at the West Australian Conservatoire of Classical Ballet in Perth before moving to Melbourne to train at the Christine Walsh Dance Centre and The Australian Ballet School. Brooke has danced with the English National Ballet, Leipziger Ballet, Royal Ballet of Flanders and Zuricher Ballet before returning to Australia to dance with West Australian Ballet, until retiring as Principal dancer in 2019.
