BUTTERFLY EFFECT

Live at His Majesty's Theatre with
West Australian Symphony Orchestra

Season Partner Singapore Airlines

Alice Topp is redefining female roles in ballet with her groundbreaking new work, Butterfly Effect.

A Helpmann Award-winner and former dancer at The Australian Ballet, Topp presents her first full-length ballet created especially for West Australian Ballet.

Inspired by chaos theory, the original John Luther Long troubled tale of Madame Butterfly and the iconic Puccini melodies, our Butterfly Effect is an evolution, taking place six generations on, in contemporary Western Australia.

It centres on Charlie. A young, inspired woman in conflict with her own decisions and wrestling with societal expectations. Like a butterfly in transformation, we watch Charlie, a working Army Medic fall in love, become a mother, fight for change and aim to make an impact for good in a world that doesn’t make that pursuit easy.
