Demi-Soloist Polly Hilton was born in Hong Kong, immigrating to Australia at age 8.
After commencing dance studies with The Ransley sisters and Fiona Munroe, she moved to Melbourne to complete her formal training at The Australian Ballet School. After a year working at The Australian Ballet with Helen Cameron as part the Education team, she trained with Prudence Bowen, then joining The Australian Ballet for Stephen Baynes’ Swan Lake seasons in 2012.
Polly joined West Australian Ballet in 2013, later being promoted to the rank of Demi-Soloist.
Polly’s achievements include Exchange scholarships to the National Ballet School in Toronto and School of American Ballet in New York, and Awards for Excellence at The ABS for both Classical Ballet and Character Dance.
Her repertoire includes, Kitri, Mercedes and Queen of the Dryads in Lucette Aldous’ Don Quixote, First Violin in Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco, Myrtha and Zulma in Giselle, Evil Queen in Harangozo’s Snow White, Lead Sylph in Bournonville’s La Sylphide, Stepmother and Fairy Godmother in Smeulders’ Cinderella, Jordan Baker in Nixon’s The Great Gatsby, and Drummer in Gauthier’s Takuto.
In her spare time she enjoys watching art house films with friends, reading and trying out new restaurants around the city!
