Tamika Farrugia

Tamika Farrugia was born in Perth, Western Australia, and began her ballet training at a young age. In 2017, she commenced full-time training at Pevnev Ballet Academy under the direction of Sergey Pevnev. During this time, she performed with Perth City Ballet in Giselle, dancing the roles of Myrtha and the Peasant Pas de Deux.

In 2018, Tamika moved to Canada to continue her training at the Alberta Ballet School. While there, she performed with Alberta Ballet in The Sleeping Beauty as a Lilac Attendant and Nymph, and in The Nutcracker as a Snowflake and Waltz of the Flowers dancer.

In 2021, Tamika began a Bachelor of Arts (Dance) at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), where she trained under the guidance of Kim McCarthy and Leanne Stojmenov. During her studies, she performed a diverse repertoire including the Mazurka Solo in Les Sylphides, the First Shade Solo from La Bayadère, Kitri from Don Quixote, Swanhilda from Coppélia, and the Cygnets from Swan Lake.

Following her graduation in 2022, Tamika joined West Australian Ballet as a guest artist, performing in Swan Lake and George Balanchine’s Who Cares? before accepting a contract with Ballet de Barcelona as a soloist in 2023.

During her three seasons with Ballet de Barcelona, Tamika performed leading roles including Myrtha in Giselle, the Snow Queen and Dewdrop in The Nutcracker, and featured roles such as the Pas de Six in Chronos and Mirlitons in The Nutcracker. She toured extensively throughout Spain, Europe, and internationally, with performances in South Africa and Pakistan. While in Europe, she also competed at the Prix d’Europe, where she was awarded both Gold and Silver medals.

Tamika is delighted to return to her hometown of Perth to join West Australian Ballet as a Young Artist.
