THE NUTCRACKER
Registrations have closed
West Australian Ballet has an exciting opportunity for young male and female dancers to be involved in the upcoming season of The Nutcracker at His Majesty’s Theatre (Friday 20 November 2026 – Sunday 13 December 2026).
The Nutcracker is West Australian Ballet’s lavish production of the all-time Christmas favourite, choreographed by Jayne Smeulders, Aurélien Scannella and Sandy Delasalle-Scannella.
Casting is at the discretion of the Artistic Team. Successful applicants will gain valuable rehearsal and performance experience and will be contracted as a Guest Child Artist for a roster of performances during the season.
Applicants must be available for all rehearsals and performances as indicated on the schedule.
Requirements:
• Boys and Girls may apply
• Must be aged between 8 – 13 years for the duration of the performance season (i.e born on or between 14th December 2012 and 20th November 2018)
• Must be between 120cm – 145cm in height
• Must have dance experience and be able to pick up choreography quickly
Audition Details:
• Open Auditions will be held between approx.12 midday and 5:30pm, Sunday 13 September.
• Each audition will take approximately 30 minutes, participants exact scheduled audition time will be confirmed via email once registrations close.
• Please wear appropriate dance clothes. A leotard, or singlet, tights and ballet flats. Hair must be tied back
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of the Open Auditions ahead of the second round (Call Back) audition to be held on Saturday 26 September, after which casting will be determined.
Registrations:
• Registrations must be received by 11.59pm, Saturday 5 September (AWST)
• Late registrations will not be accepted.
• Your Trybooking ticket is your confirmation that your application has been received.
• Your exact audition timing will be sent to you via email on Wednesday 9 September
