Originally from Holguin, Cuba, Ana Gallardo Lobaina joined West Australian Ballet in mid 2017. She was trained at the Cuban National Ballet School in Havana, Cuba, where she participated and placed third in the International Ballet Competition of Cuba in 2008 and 2009. Upon moving to the United States in 2009 she joined Miami City Ballet School on a full scholarship, she then joined Boston Ballet School as a trainee in 2011. The following year she joined Cincinnati Ballet, where she steadily rose through the ranks for the past 5 seasons. While with Cincinnati Ballet she has toured in Alaska and performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Her favorite performances to date include dancing Olympe in Val Caniparoli’s Lady of the Camellias, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Cylindrical Shadows, Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16, Winter Fairy in Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake.
In her spare time Ana enjoys sketching, painting, salsa dancing, cooking and outside activities with friends.
