FOLLOW ME… INTO ANOTHER WORLD

Ballet at the Quarry has become one of summer’s hottest tickets in town for the people of Perth. Attracting young and old audiences alike, the season continues to grow in stature and popularity as we continue to perform to sell-out audiences.

In 2017 West Australian Ballet is proud to present, Takuto: Ballet at the Quarry – a series of 4 short works:

In Transit

Australian Premiere

Choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa explores the state of mind that inhabits people while in an undefined public place of transit.

Ballet 101

Australian Premiere

Eric Gauthier’s humorous “crash course” in classical ballet. Using the basic 5 positions as his starting point, Gauthier creates 101 positions with tongue-in-cheek references to famous ballets and choreographers.

The Clearest Light

World Premiere

WAB’s own Christopher Hill will be adding to his already impressive choreographic repertoire with the premiere of his latest work The Clearest Light.

Takuto

Australian Premiere

How easy it is to get out of step and how difficult it can be to find one’s inner rhythm – the balance that provides us with strength and creativity: the rhythm of life. This is the theme of Takuto, which, following Taiko, is the second work by choreographer Eric Gauthier and is inspired by the art of Japanese drumming.

Approximate running time 2 hours
