When young Romeo Montague tricks his way into the lavish masked ball of the Capulet family it is love at first sight. But the Capulets are old enemies of the Montagues and the immediate passion between Romeo and the beautiful Juliet Capulet is forbidden. Euphoric with love and forgoing the approval of their families, the young lovers play by their own rules, and soon hatch a dangerous plot that ends in heart-breaking tragedy.
This acclaimed international production from Youri Vámos is set in the 1930s and features evocative set and costumes from the period.
‘Only those who move the heart will change the world – this is the goal I am trying to achieve’ says Vámos.
“Even more familiar to audience members than Prokofiev’s score will be this genuine evocation of first love. Vámos’ choreography is stunning in its ability to touch the heart, which is no small feat when presenting one of the world’s most familiar tales.” – The Prague Post.
