Judith Yan has been a conductor for the National Ballet of Canada, San Francisco Opera and the Canadian Opera Company since 1998. Equally adept at conducting both opera and ballet, she has worked for companies in German, Italy, the United States and Canada.
Judith will share her insights about her experiences with the world’s leading choreographers and ballet masters, the finer nuances of working with opera and ballet, and her story of how she has bencome such a sought-after conductor.

DAVID NIXON OBE
Artistic Director – Northern Ballet
A giant in the world of ballet, David Nixon has worked as Principal Dancer, Principal Guest Artist, Choreographer, Costume Designer, Director and Artistic Director.
He has made an enormous contribution to ballet repertoire – in his six years with BalletMet alone he was responsible for 16 World Premieres. David brings the Australian Premiere of his ballet, The Great Gatsby to our stage in 2017.
Join WAB for an exclusive opportunity to hear David speak about the art of choreography and his fascinating career which has taken him across the globe. For his services to dance, David was acknowledged in 2010 with an OBE in the Queens New Year honours list.
