Learning From the Masters
West Australian Ballet is hosting international guest artist Wim Broeckx for an unmissable Teachers Professional Development event. Broeckx is set to also teach company class and Masterclass programme while in residence.
After a long and successful career with three international companies, most notably Dutch National Ballet where he rose to Principal Dancer, Wim’s teaching career has seen him work as Director of the Dance Department at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague from 2002 – 2010, as Artistic President of the Prix de Lausanne from 2008 – 2012, and as an international guest teacher and coach across many of the world’s best schools and academies.
West Australian Ballet will welcome Wim to Perth to work with many departments within the company for two weeks. He will be teaching daily morning class during his stay, as well as leading a teacher’s workshop – Learning From the Masters, presented by Ausdance WA.
“We are incredibly lucky to have Wim teach company class for two weeks. His experience as a dancer, teacher, and Artistic Director is world renowned, and having him on board will be of great benefit for our dancers.” – Aurélien Scannella, Artistic Director.
An initiative of the WAB Education Department, Learning From the Masters is an opportunity for dance teachers to step inside the WAB studios and watch Wim teach company class, followed by a presentation and Q&A about his career and teaching practices. This is a fantastic professional development opportunity to inspire teaching practice.
